An illustrations exhibition by Sara Ciprandi for “Illustri OFF” International Illustration Festival held at Fondazione Vignato per l’Arte art foundation.
It shows her interpretation of the famous painter Frida Kahlo, created for the recent picture book published with Hop Edizioni. On show also a selection of other works depicting female figures, characterized by square noses, almond-shaped eyes, pointed bodies and sinuous hands with very long fingers.
Sara Ciprandi is a freelance based in Milan that, in recent times, has established herself as one of the most original national and international illustrators. She loves the attention for details, the essentiality of graphics, the Japanese art, the lightness and the elegance of Art Deco.
In her works she gives us an interpretation of Frida that no one had imagined before. By her elegant and abstract vision, she depicted the character as a hieratic figure, nearly an idol. Sara’s Frida is spiritual, like a soul that moves between cultured references and a floral world in which each element takes on a precise meaning that has to be discovered as in a puzzle, to understand the emotional life of the character.
