Le Vie Angarano is the organic winery owned by the sisters Bianchi Michiel set in Bassano del Grappa. The winery is the alive proof of the century-old wine making tradition of Villa Angarano, the family house designed by Architect Andrea Palladio in 1548 and included in UNESCO’s World Heritage Site list.
È questo luogo celebre per i preciosi vini, che vi si fanno, e per li frutti che vi vengono, e molto più per la cortesia del padrone
Translated: “This is a well-known place for its precious wines here produced, for its fruits here grown, and even more for the kindness of the owner”. That’s Andrea Palladio’s literal description of Villa Angarano in the Second of The Four Books of Architecture, the treatise that he wrote in 1570, which proves the historical importance of wine production for the “Farm Villa”.
Embraced by the two column porches of the Palladian Villa, the vineyard extends is in the eastern part of DOC Breganze area, at the beginning of Altopiano di Asiago and at the foot of Monte Grappa.
Thanks to a sharp temperature range between night and day, and thanks also to the morning wind blowing from North to South, there’s a microclimate that favors the production of high quality grapes and olives.
Le Vie Angarano is Organically Certified and follows biodynamic principles. The vine pruners have trained according to Simonit & Sirch method with the objective of pruning the vine preserving and respecting the health condition of the plant.
The Winery and the Wine Shop
The modern winery is in Bassano del Grappa’s hamlet San Michele, 5 minutes far from the Villa by car. It counts of 12 steel tanks and high-tech tools to transform the hand-collected grape into wine. Inside the Wine Cellar, there is the Wine Shop Corner with a majestic mahogany table that welcomes guest for wine tastings and private events.
The Barrel Room
Inside Villa Angarano’s Courtyard, there’s the Barrel Room, where some of the wines spend months, also years, to enrich with French oak barriques’ aromas. Such enchanting room with the vaulted ceiling and wine scent in the air, is the perfect place to welcome wine lovers for guided tastings or to organize intimate events.
The Vineyard
In the 8-hectare vineyard, four grape varieties grow: Vespaiola, Chardonnay, Merlot and Cabernet, from which seven labels derive. The vine rows surround the Palladian Villa, making the landscape so unique and precious that it is protected by environmental restrictions. During summertime the vineyard becomes the natural stage of enchanting events in the open air, like “Aperitivi”, Happy Hours and the Vineyard Dinner in September.
