DID YOU KNOW?
The origin of the name Carnival is disputed; being the festive season which occurs immediately before the Christian period of Lent, the word “Carnevale” may derive from the Low Latin “carne-levamen” (or similar), meaning ‘to remove meat’, since meat is prohibited during Lent.
According to other interpretations the name may come from an ancient Roman religious festival, the “Navigium Isidis” (vessel of Isis), which celebrated the goddess Isis with a parade of masks following an adorned wooden boat, the “carrus navalis”, that would reflect the modern Carnivals’ floats.
At “Pinocchio Musicafè” Bar, Via Divisione Folgore 5, Vicenza; start up at 9:00 pm till closing.
