Bed and breakfast Agriturismo Crocerone is a family-run business, and once you step foot on the farm, you too will feel like part of the family. To get there, you will drive the Italian backroads, maybe even passing a tractor or two along the way. When you pull into the driveway, you can’t miss the large two-story traditional villa with the warm and welcoming facade. It’s hard to imagine that, up until it was re-purposed as a bed and breakfast 5 years ago, the structure was used simply for storage on the farm.

Brothers, Zeno and Piero, and their sister, Arianna, oversee every aspect of this agriturismo. All three are incredibly interesting and friendly – yet each is very different from the others. Zeno was our point of contact and tour guide for the day. He enthusiastically expressed his eagerness to share his beautiful farm with our readers, especially folks from the United States and abroad. Piero has visited 47+ states in America, and there’s a good chance he’s visited your home state at one time or another. He’ll happily strike up a conversation with you about any of them. Arianna is the sweet soul among the siblings, constantly smiling and offering to help in whatever way she can – even with her limited English. She is the only one who speaks both Italian and French, and she prepares the most delightful meals as the main Chef for the farm.
The Guest Rooms
Accommodations include five guest rooms on the second level. Each room has its own unique characteristics, but all are quaintly decorated and feature vaulted wood ceilings. Four of the rooms feature a king-size bed that can be split apart if necessary. They can also add extra beds in each room. All guest rooms boast much larger bathrooms than you’ll find at most other hotels or agriturismos. As Dachshund (bassotto in Italian) owners themselves, they are very pet-friendly and happy to allow dogs to stay in the room during the day.
The Breakfast
For those unfamiliar with the concept of agriturismos, they are a combination of the Italian words agricoltura (agriculture) and turismo (tourism). Essentially, Agriturismo is a farm designed to welcome guests for food (breakfast, lunch, and/or dinner), overnight guests, or a combination of the two. Agriturismo Crocerone operates as a bed and breakfast.
They pride themselves on their breakfast, which includes an assortment of fresh homemade pastries, including crostata, strudels, and muffins, as well as fresh prosciutto and salami. They use fresh eggs from the farm, and are happy to accommodate guests’ special requests. They also offer healthy options like yogurt, fruit, and cereal., Guests can enjoy eating breakfast outdoors under the roof or indoors within the lovely breakfast area.
Zeno informed us that, even though current Agriturismo regulations would allow them to buy everything they need from the supermarket to prepare breakfast and pastries, they have had such great reviews about their homemade goodies that they prefer to “keep it that way.”
Why Stay Here?
Many people have come from all over Italy, Germany, and the United States to stay at Agriturismo Crocerone. So, what’s the attraction? Three simple things: the location, the chance to get to know the locals, and the reasonable prices. While this lovely retreat is located in the center of some of the most attractive cities of the Veneto region, you’re getting a stay in the countryside with a spectacular view of the Prealps. Venice is less than 100 km away and within an hour and a half, you can reach Verona. Staying here readily provides easy access to other picturesque mountain villages such as Asolo, Treviso, Breganze, Marostica, and Cittadella, to name a few. For a different experience, you can hop in the car and drive 5 minutes to Bassano del Grappa, famous for its Grappa (alcohol). Or if you prefer, you can borrow bikes from the farm and cruise around town. There are many distilleries in the area, such as Poli Distillery (located within 12 km of the farm) where you can enjoy a tasting as well as a guided tour of their headquarters. In 10 minutes, you can also be in Nove, a town famous for its ceramics!
Getting to chat with Zeno, Piero, or Arianna is part of the unique Agriturismo Crocerone experience. They really enjoy getting to know their guests and create a welcome environment for them. They love to tell stories about the farm’s history, and they have such great advice on things to do in the area. The siblings have dedicated their lives to providing the best experience for everyone who visits. In fact, Piero lives on the grounds, so you can rest easy knowing someone will always be there in case of an emergency.
This is nothing like a chain hotel, and you won’t find expensive hotel prices at this farmstay, either. The rates are very reasonable, and include many perks such as free parking, bicycles for rent, free breakfast, and even opportunities to experience farm life. For example, come March when their white asparagus is ready to be picked, they will include you in the experience if you’d like, as well as provide you with a gift to commemorate your experience!
Finally, if you’d like to just hang out around the farm for the day, Piero loves to play golf and throw the football with guests.
